I just returned from Vegas, working a convention. Amazing how technology was and was not present. On one hand, people were using laptops and projectors, on the the other hand, writing orders with pens and paper. Seems when it comes to doing business, some folks could care less what tools they use to do it. Does that make me weird?

As early as 1998 I was trading MP3's. I became obsessed with this digital craze early on. Not as early as the supergeeks, but close. I wrote articles, evangelized my friends, convinced my job to by technology, blah..blah..blah. I totally left the idea of handheld device on my mantle. I imagined everyone with a laptop by now and a free worldwide wireless network. Its almost that, but also very different. And the awareness I predicted was way off. I thought by 2006 the world (at least my city) would be very digital.
Maybe, the analog and the digital will co-exist forever. Some folks still don't prefer e-mail over a written letter. And maybe, my timing is off.

I asked my buddy the other day if the iPod that plays movies would make its way seriously to the film festivals. He not only said yes, but also explained that beyond seeing the movie on the unit itself, folks will probably use external monitors. So if we thought it unique that DJ's no longer have to lug around stuff, the makers of film must be nice and drunk right now.

I often seem to start these things off with the word so. Just noticed that. A few blogs back I mentioned a company called Intent Media. There's a saying that goes "don't u love it when a plan comes 2gether?" and boy do I. I (really God thru me) have successfully merged Intent with my present job! We (Kedar EntertainmentGroup) will be distributing digital media via Intent, and I'm more than thrilled. I know this is my digital blog, but to have something of this magnitude explode, to God be the glory.

So I got this lil' $50 player from Coby. Not too bad, 128 meg, small, uses 1 AAA battery. Should be cool to get work done on now, iTunes doesn't read it though. The good part is I can rip straight from CD without importing. Speaking of work, I'm on my way in now to sequence an album for a presentation to Universal today. I don't believe in luck, but wish me well anyway.

Now that I have a job (thank God!) I'm thinking about what to do about my next mp3 player. I'm even tempted to go and buy a cheap $49 number to listen to my work on. I could just wait and get the new Sony, but I'm thirsty for a unit to hear my work. If I had one on this subway as I write, I'd be able to listen to the mix I did last night.

So being around town, I see this blackberry thing is catching on. Although I think phone service is a racket (see blog Jan. 12), its still basically affordable for most working folks. I guess in the interest of having a more progressive society, I'd have to give props. I know its changed my life drastically, I can wish it does the same for others.

OK. Is it just me or is Apple (my favorite computer company) running a racket? There are four, count that 4 unworking iPods in my household. The original with the physical wheel, a mini, a 20 gig, and a U2 special edition. Funny thing is as I ride the NY subway, I see people having NONE of those versions! I see new Nanos and Photos, but none of the four in my household.

You know, I just realized yesterday that I can write in this thing more than once a day. Duh! So on days, certain days I guess I can squeeze out more than one enrty. Let's see, I'm on my way up to Sirius, Howard started Monday, so that should be interesting. Can't say how I really feel about satellite radio, on one hand the idea of commercial free is dynamically appealing, on the other hand PAYING for radio sucks. Perhaps I'll be singing a different tune if they give me my own show.

So I get this email from allhiphop.com today and its telling me about a book author having a live Q&A. I access the site via my blackberry, and it takes me to allhiphop's ill community message board. I go to the main site, still looking for the location (bookstore, etc.) This guys gonna be. Turns out, the message board IS the place. 3 hours, live chat, book author, allhiphop. Digital Noise-Making. Nuff said.

So this DTV thingy, (dtvmac.com) goes right along with the flow of my never-ending "predictions of the digerati elite". I still do not believe all screens (movie,tv, and computer) will merge. We digerati don't/never want that. I want my blackberry & your sidekick to be a different animal. Makes sense. Dollars too :-).
